As I write this it was one month ago that the Camp Fire exploded across our county and changed so many lives. I do not know anyone who has not been dramatically impacted by this life changing event. For most people they will continue moving forward in their lives with the support of family, friends, and community. But if you find that the symptoms of stress from the Camp Fire are hanging on or worsening, you may want to come in for some more focused work with a therapist to move forward more quickly. Think of it like working with a coach to get you where you want go more easily, sooner, smoother, faster. We are all human. We all need help at times.
Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being.
As a positively focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, having an understanding of how the past may be affecting your current life can be helpful in understanding and resolving challenges in your life. And I have found that even from the most difficult and challenging situations, positive growth and change is possible.
By applying a wide variety of therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may no longer serve you, and be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I personally have found that the conscious awareness of when these old scripts arise, and what the automatic responses have been, gives a person a newfound ability to chose how you react today, which may have very different outcomes on what happens in our relationships. Sometimes it takes a new perspective, which can be difficult to get by yourself, or with your partner. And friends and family are equipped to love you and be on your side and give advice, but are not equipped to be objective, or be skilled with interventions that are necessarily helpful.
If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. Are you considering getting married? Come in for pre-marital counseling to consider each of your values and needs prior to the wedding. If you feel your relationship has gone stale, or are having significant trouble in your relationship, come in to learn new strategies for relating to each other. If you and your partner are at the point of considering divorce, come in for decision making therapy before you decide to get divorced or go into couples counseling. Remember, you are making one of the biggest decision of your life, that impacts you, your children, your parents, your siblings and in-laws for the rest of your life. It is not a decision to be made in the heat of emotion or without careful consideration.
